While the Cocora region is home to dozens of hummingbird species, the long-tailed sylph hummingbird is certaninly one of the most mesmerizing. It's native to the high elevation cloud forests of the Northern Andes, from Colombia through Northern Peru. Their vibrant iridescent plumage and elongated are traits favored through sexual selection process during courtship.
