Jade was the most prized material in the Maya world, reserved for royalty, nobles, and sacred offerings. These Early Classic (A.D. 250–600) jade ornaments were recovered from Tikal, , including earflares, necklaces, bracelets, and anklets. Their brilliant green color symbolized life and fertility, and royal authority.
