Mausoleum of Revash

Mausoleum of Revash loading

Although Revash is located within the Chachapoyas region, it was constructed after the conquest of the Chachapoya by the Inca Empire. The tomb is a significant departure from the previous Chachapoya burial style of sarcophagi upon cliff walls. Revash also contained mummies, which is typical of the Inca burial style, rather than the previous Chachapoya burials of tied bundled of bones. For this reason, Revash is believed to have contained the remains of Inca elite rather than those of the Chachapoya people.
