Rumicolca Wari and Inca Construction

Rumicolca Wari and Inca Construction loading

Rumicolca was originally constructed as an aquaduct by the Wari culture, leading to the nearby city of Pikallacta. Centuries later, the Inca transformed this site into a massive gateway for those travelling to Cusco via the main Inca road to the south, Collasuyu. This photo shows the older Wari-style masonry, similar to that found at Pikallatca, contrasting with the newer and more precise Inca-style masonry where they re-inforced the edges after creating two gaps in the older wall.
