Hummingbirds are thought to have been associated with the coming of rains within the Nazca culture, because they are more commonly found in this region during rainy years.

Once thought to be the capital of the Nazca culture, Cahuachi is now believed to be their primary religious center and pilgrimage site.

These unique corkscrew ramps descend down into one of a network of underground aqueducts, built by the Nazca culture over 1,500 years ago.
